Foundation programmes
Our one-year foundation certificates serve a variety of purposes. Many students choose to study towards
one of these certificates to meet the academic entry requirements of our degree programmes. Others take
the certificate to gain confidence to start tertiary level study, or to have a taste of what university life is like.
If you choose the Tohu Tūāpapa Mātauranga foundation certificate, you will also develop your proficiency in
te reo Māori and your knowledge of tikanga Māori.
