The Faculty of Education and Social Work

provides a supportive and friendly learning

environment at three campus locations:

Epsom, South Auckland and Whangarei. Our

programmes are informed by leading research

and delivered by experienced professionals who

combine knowledge of the latest developments

in their felds with passion for their work.

We also ensure students have opportunities to

experience frst-hand what it’s like to work in

schools, centres or social services agencies as

part of their study. Education and Social Work

students spend an average of over 20 weeks on

placements, which equips them with a sound

understanding of what their future careers

will be like. When a student graduates from

the faculty, they leave with the knowledge and

practical experience to begin their career and

really make a difference.

The Faculty of Education and Social Work has

a proud history of over 130 years as a high-

quality teacher and professional education

provider and more than 30 years’ experience

in social services education. We have never

stopped evolving in order to bring you the best

educational experiences possible.

In addition to undergraduate programmes, the

faculty also offers postgraduate and professional

development programmes, consultancy and

support services.

First-year experience and

student support

In your frst year as an undergraduate student,

you will be assigned a student mentor through

the First Year Experience Programme. The frst

year of university study can be challenging at

times, and your mentor will be there to support

you as you make the transition to university

study and student life. We also have dedicated

support services for Māori and Pacifc students.
