Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kura Akoranga me te Tauwhiro Tangata o
Te Whare Wānanga o Tāmaki-makau-rau.
Greetings, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Fakaalofa lahi atu,
Kia orana and a warm Pacific welcome to you.
Educators, social workers and leaders in health,
sport and physical education are essential to
improving the social, cultural, physical, mental
and spiritual wellbeing of individuals, families
and communities.
Being the leading university in New Zealand for
Education as a subject and ranked in the top
3% worldwide,* it is our role to lead the way in
providing critique and solutions to education,
social and community issues around the
globe. These solutions are grounded in leading
research and stem from the heart of our faculty
mission: Leading Learning, Changing Lives.
Our faculty is distinctive in the way we position
community at the forefront of our teaching
and learning. Our students come from a wide
variety of backgrounds. While some students
come to us straight from secondary school,
many others have been working for a while and
are looking for a career that will give them new
purpose – or are looking for a way to give back
to their community. As a faculty we make sure
these diverse backgrounds and motivations are
supported.
Our programmes are practical and research-
informed. We have close working partnerships
with schools, early childhood centres, charities,
local and central government, district health
boards, social services, and community agencies
and businesses. These partnerships will connect
you with experiential learning opportunities
and networks and pave the way for your future
employment success.
I invite you to join our community of learning and
wish you well on what I know will be a valuable
and life-changing journey.
Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui rā hoki.
