and professional growth.

Diverse research opportunities

Research in the Faculty of Education and Social Work contributes to

improving the educational and social wellbeing of society. Our research

harnesses the vast potential that diversity brings to education, social work,

counselling and social and community leadership.

Our research strengths include applied theatre in education; educational

leadership; education and schooling success for diverse communities

within New Zealand; health education, physical education and sports

studies; Māori and indigenous language revitalisation, language education

and language policy; and social work practice strategies for promoting the

wellbeing of diverse populations.

Our collaborative engagement with schools and communities of practice

has enabled the faculty to secure significant funding for research and

professional fellowships as well as postgraduate study scholarships for

outstanding researchers from New Zealand and around the world.

Flexible study options to suit working

professionals

We understand the demands on busy professionals and the need to

balance study with work and other commitments. That’s why we have

developed a range of taught programmes that can be studied part-time

with flexible delivery options. Many of our courses are offered in the

evening, online, during the school holidays (block intensive) or as a blend

of face-to-face and online study. Having three campuses in Auckland

and one campus in Northland enables our postgraduate students to

access University library resources, support services and highly qualified

supervisors whilst studying close to home.
